A Hygienist is a member of the Dental Team specially trained in the treatment of gum disease and prevention of the two main dental diseases, gum disease and tooth decay.
Not all dental practices will employ hygienists, but at Rosehill we believe helping our patients prevent dental problems is really important if possible and if you do have gum disease we want to be able to help you in the best way we can.
We have two Hygienists working in our team Jill Mitchell and Sarah Sullivan who is also a qualified Dental Therapist and able to do certain restorative treatments as well.
The main day to day task they do is to professionally clean teeth – A Scale and Polish. But probably the most beneficial thing they will do is customize and coach you in the best way for you to keep plaque from accumulating on your teeth and leading to decay and gum disease.
